MetaMask, a renowned software tool for self-managing cryptocurrencies, has initiated a pilot program with its crypto card to expand into the United States.
In the near future, users in the USA will have the opportunity to utilize the MetaMask service, allowing them to spend their digital currencies with numerous merchants. As stated on its account, MetaMask, the decentralized wallet provider, is preparing to introduce its “crypto card” service to residents of the USA.
This initiative is part of a larger strategy to speed up cryptocurrency adoption by eliminating certain entry obstacles to the industry, including fiat onboarding and offboarding. The pilot project seeks to give U.S. residents the chance to use their crypto for everyday transactions, beginning with a self-custodial solution. The card functions similarly to a regular debit card, but it handles internal transactions in cryptocurrency via Ethereum's cost-effective layer-2 Linea. Users in the United States can now sign up through the MetaMask Portfolio and set up their account on the Crypto Life website, which is the issuer of the card.
After completing this step, they can request the card, convert the cryptocurrencies in their account, and use them as fiat currencies during a payment. According to the announcement, the MetaMask Card is currently unavailable for users in New York and Vermont due to stricter local regulations regarding cryptographic transactions and payments.
